San Diego Rape and Murder Suspect Sentenced to Life in Prison

A suspect in connection with the San Diego Rape and Murder of a woman near Cal State San Marcos 15 years ago was sentenced life in prison without parole.

Vista Judge K. Michael Kirkman sentenced Michael Eddie Williams, 37, on Friday, after he pled guilty to first degree murder of Shannon Conway last month. Williams who admitted to raping and strangling the 18 year-old, has been serving a 40 year -sentence for a child rape case in Mississippi, was brought to California after a DNA match linked him to Conway’s murder.

Conway’s naked body was found on July 30, 1995 on Craven Road near Cal State San Marcos. A 39-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the murder of this young woman about a month after her body was found, but he was soon released as the charges were dismissed because of lack of evidence. Conway was living in the Ocean Beach area at the time of this San Diego violent crime.

William’s will serve life in prison without parole for the rape and murder of Conway.
