Woman Fatally Stabbed in Oceanside Shopping Center

A woman who was on vacation visiting family with her husband was fatally stabbed in a Toys “R” Us parking lot in Oceanside on Friday, according to Oceanside police.

Katherine H. Parker 54, of Lincoln, was assaulted just after 4:00 p.m. when she had left a Hallmark store in Oceanside and was walking to her car in the parking lot near the toy store on Vista Way near South El Camino Real, said Oceanside police officer Kim Rainwater.

Parker was flown by a county fire rescue helicopter to a San Diego trauma center where she died a short time later, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. Parker was from Lincoln, a small town in Northern California.

Investigators say there was no motive for the attack.

Russell Andreasen, 36, turned himself into police after remaining in the parking lot for them to arrive, according to Lt. Leonard Mata. The murder suspect was arrested and taken to the Oceanside police station for questioning.
